My journey to midwifery began in 2012, during my studies of Herbal Medicine, where the teachings of Dr. Aviva Romm, an herbalist and midwife, profoundly inspired me. While learning about all the ways plants and mushrooms can support our mind and body, I realized that I was solely responsible for my own health and well-being – there was no magic pill that would fix x, y, and z. Back then, what I hadn’t yet realized was that this path would ultimately lead me to becoming a midwife and someone who would walk alongside hundreds of women and childbearing people as they transformed into mothers and parents. Luckily, in 2015, I attended my first birth as a friend/doula, and it ignited my passion for supporting families as they welcomed new life into the world.

Before becoming a midwife, I also completed a Bachelor of Science at St. Catherine University. I studied Nutrition and Exercise Science, focusing all my projects on the childbearing years and the intersection of social justice and ethics in healthcare. In early 2020, I completed a full-spectrum birth work training through Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings, embracing a socially conscious and culturally sensitive approach to care. I believe in the fundamental right of all individuals to make informed choices about their healthcare. I view birth as a radical act, where I serve as a guardian and space holder for the birthing person.

My innate drive to serve others is complemented by my background in yoga; I earned a 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2012 and have since led classes throughout the Twin Cities. For me, yoga is a powerful tool for birthing people, fostering a deeper connection to their bodies, and inviting both courage and vulnerability into the experience of birth.

By the end of 2020, I enrolled at Midwives College of Utah to pursue my second bachelor’s degree in midwifery, honing my skills under the mentorship of experienced midwives at Willow Birth Center (including the lovely Anne!). I completed my studies in late 2023 and am now a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), eager to continue my lifelong journey of learning and growth in the field of midwifery.

When I’m not midwife-ing, you’ll find me spending time with my family (aka, at the soccer field or a dance competition), paddleboarding, playing softball, or my favorite: putzing around!
